Air Travelers Experience Highs and Lows When Least Expected

1 November 2006

The Tuesday night shuttle on Southwest Air between Baltimore (BWI) and Chicago Midway is usually about 80% full. This normally means there can be a middle seat open which is a major bonus on a two hour flight. This week (Halloween) most everyone was trick or treating or something. There were 52 people on the plane. Several rows to yourself and if you let your imagination loose you could experience flying in your private plane.

Major airlines would not survive flying 40% full. But when it happens - wow - what fun it is. Now on top of that the night was clear and no delays. Air Travel at it’s finest.

Prior to boarding that flight I was drilled down by TSA agent Shandra Knox for no reason. Nothing was out of compliance. My less than positive experience with TSA seems to almost alway happen when they are not busy. Fortunately most of TSA staff are courteous and helpful. Back to my private jet flying image - a lot nicer to think about.
